SVS to host the 9th International Sheep Veterinary Congress in 2017

The Sheep Veterinary Society which is a specialist division of the British Veterinary Association is delighted to announce that the UK has been selected to host the 9th International Sheep Veterinary Congress.  Held every 4 years, the Congress will be held in Harrogate in May 2017. The last time this prestigious event was held in the UK, was in Edinburgh in 1993, and it is hoped that in 2017, delegates from as far afield as New Zealand, Australia and South Africa will come back to British shores to share the common interest of Sheep Veterinary Medicine.

Speaking after the 2013 conference in New Zealand, current President of the Sheep Veterinary Society, Professor Neil Sargison of the Royal (Dick) Veterinary School, Edinburgh said that it is “ a huge honour and privelige for the UK to host the International Conference in 2017 and shows how well respected sheep veterinarians in the UK are, both home and abroad.”

The Sheep Veterinary Society would like to extend warm thanks for the all the support received from veterinary associations, research institutes, educational establishments, government, industry and individuals who have helped to bring the conference to the UK in 2017.

Our Aim

“To promote the prevention
of disease and the welfare of
sheep by providing a forum
for discussion, distribution of
