New President for SVS

Iain Richards was elected as the new President of the Sheep Veterinary Society at their autumn conference held in Peebles, Scotland at the end of September. He takes over from Kath Dun who becomes Senior Vice-President and is joined on the Committee by new Junior Vice-President Yoav Alony Gilboa.

The Sheep Veterinary Society brings together vets, advisers and flock owners from all over the United Kingdom, Europe and the wider world who are interested primarily in the welfare of sheep. Sheep are farmed throughout the world and their health and welfare depends on the care and expertise of the people who tend to them. The Society is a forum for education and discussion of sheep health and welfare. It also builds strong links with sheep farmers through the National Sheep Association. In May 2017, the Society was honoured to host the International Sheep Veterinary Congress in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. The congress was a great success attracting over 600 delegates from across the UK and overseas.  One of the highlights of the Sheep Veterinary Society’s ‘Golden Anniversary’ celebrations was a special dinner for the Society’s Past Presidents and invited guests.
