New President for the Sheep Veterinary Society

Dr Fiona Lovatt BVSc PhD DSHP DipECSRHM MRCVS was elected as the new President of the Sheep Veterinary Society at their autumn conference held in Edinburgh.   She takes over from Neil Sargison who becomes Senior Vice-President and is joined on the committee by new Junior Vice President, Jimmy Wilson.

The Sheep Veterinary Society has a busy schedule for the year ahead with a number of different initiatives for our members.  We are holding an expert workshop at the end of September to develop some case-study based Liver Fluke CPD which, together with BCVA, we will roll out across the country through the autumn.   We are in the middle of a very successful series of monthly evening webinars and we plan to set up a further series for 2014.

There are opportunities for sheep practitioners to get involved on a local level as we will once again hold ‘Talking Sheep’ meetings throughout the country.  These meetings, kindly sponsored by MSD Animal Health, are particularly designed to encourage younger members of the profession to present and discuss interesting cases with colleagues.

Our Aim

“To promote the prevention
of disease and the welfare of
sheep by providing a forum
for discussion, distribution of
research results and provision
of advice on veterinary
matters relating to sheep”
