Moredun's National Livestock Health Roadshow Dates Announced

Vets and scientists from the Moredun Research Institute will hit the road this autumn as they embark on a ten date Livestock Health Roadshow.

Organised by Moredun, a world leader in research into the health and welfare of livestock, each of the ten events will highlight current livestock health issues. It is hoped that these events will provide farmers, vets and SQPs with the information they need to maximise the health, productivity and profitability of Britain’s livestock. Subjects to be covered include worm control, liver fluke, sheep abortion, cryptosporidiosis, Johne’s disease, rumen fluke, sheep scab, lameness, mastitis and OPA.

Professor Julie Fitzpatrick, Chief Executive and Scientific Director of Moredun hoped that vets, SQPs and their farmer clients would benefit from these events. She commented; “The subjects we are covering during this Roadshow have all been suggested by our board of regional advisors, most of whom are farmers, vets and SQPs themselves – allowing us to remain focused on the needs of the industry.” She added, “We hope that these meetings will help farmers learn more about specific animal health problems, enabling them to make informed choices about disease control on their farms.”

Moredun’s Livestock Health Roadshow will run between 20 October and 9 November and will visit Perth, Kirkwall, Westray, Peebles, Newmarket, Macclesfield, Launceston, Llandovery, Skipton and Dumfries.

These meetings are free to attend and everyone is very welcome. No RSVP is required apart from the on farm event in Perth (please RSVP by 14 October to beth.wells@moredun.ac.uk for this event).  All the events are evening meetings and start at 7.30pm EXCEPT from the on farm event at Perth which starts at 10.00am and the Kirkwall meeting which starts at 8.00pm.  For further information please visit Moredun’s website: www.moredun.org.uk/events
