Joining instructions for new members of the Sheep Veterinary Society

  • New applications for membership may only be received in writing so please download and print the membership application form here and follow the instructions below

  • Complete and sign the form using black ball-point pen noting the following:
    • Only current members of the British Veterinary Association (BVA) can apply for ordinary membership of the Society.
    • Non-BVA members must apply for associate membership and will not be eligible to become officers of the Society or act as Society representatives at BVA Council.
    • All applicants must be proposed and seconded by two existing ordinary members of the Society.

Applicants having difficulty identifying a proposer and/or seconder do not despair; return the form anyway with a request for further assistance from the secretariat!!

  • Post the form to the Secretariat (address on application form)
  • On receipt of the completed form the applicant will be added to the Society’s mailing list and will receive notification of future meetings via the next member’s mailing
  • Membership will not be confirmed until the applications received are approved by existing members at the next available ordinary or annual general meetings which take place during the Society’s May and September meetings respectively.
  • Once membership is confirmed the applicant will be contacted by the secretariat and requested to pay the subscription fee (currently £30 on joining followed by £30 payable in January each year thereafter) either by standing order, credit/debit card or cheque. On receipt of payment the applicant will be accorded full membership rights according to their status and will be eligible to receive copies of the Society’s Proceedings.
