Society Meetings
UK
Meetings
Two, three-day meetings are held each year, in May and September or October.
The meetings are held at various locations throughout Great Britain, so that distance to meetings
is not a prohibiting factor against attendance. In the last few years meetings have ranged from Exeter and Wye in the south through Shropshire,
Chester, Bangor, Scarborough and Ambleside to Pitlochry, Dumfries and Edinburgh in the north and Belfast in the west. The meetings are recognised for the
quality of information presented and their friendliness.
The contents of meetings reflect the wide and varied interests of the membership in all aspects
of sheep health and production. Details of a sample meeting is available
to demonstrate the range of subjects covered. Wherever possible, "bolt-on"
continuing professional development (CPD) courses are offered at these
meetings.

Members may be accompanied by their husbands, wives or partners for whom an alternative programme
of events can be found within the area.
International and European Meetings
Every four years the Society supports an International Sheep Veterinary Conference through
advertising and supporting arrangements for travel to the conference.
7th ISVC - Norway 2009
The 7th International
Conference was held in Stavanger, Norway between
Friday 12th and Tuesday 16th of June 2009.
Previous International meetings have been:
6th ISVC- Crete 2005
5th ISVC- South Africa 2001
Meetings are also
arranged with groups on the mainland of Europe every 4 years. To date,
the Society has visited Holland, Norway, Spain and Ireland. These meetings
have proved very popular and are a most instructive way of expanding local
knowledge. These meetings occur midway between the International meetings
with the last one in Hanover 2007.
2010 Initiative
we will be running a number of regional gatherings under the title of ‘Talking Sheep’. The main purpose will be to provide a platform, mainly for recent graduates, for members to present and discuss clinical case histories.
Details will be presented on the 2010 Meetings page as they become available. |
